Objects act on type

Show emphasis by something physical happening to the word.

The word here split in the middle, with a tall yellow pill pushing the two halves apart.he re the object splits the word

Takeaways

  • A cause, not a decoration.
  • One named move per beat.
  • Use a move in two beats at most.

What it means

A pointer aimed at a word, or a word that scales up and wobbles, is the default way to emphasise. Having an object act on the word instead (split it, slash it, carry it, iris out of it) gives the emphasis a cause the viewer can see.

In a RasanAI film

The emphasis vocabulary names the moves, such as an object splitting a word and a redaction slash. Each beat names one move, and no move is used in more than two beats, so it does not become a signature gimmick.
