The story
Why Greenroom exists
Every morning at Zoho Schools, Raj San runs a reading class over Zoom. Done right, it needs real stagecraft: the students should see the book, full screen, with the teacher keyed into a corner of it, not a webcam pointed at a desk.
That meant OBS, a virtual camera, a chroma key, a meeting, and three windows dragged into their places. None of it hard. All of it, every single morning, tedious.
Greenroom is named for the room performers wait in before going on stage. It gets everything ready, so walking on is the only step left.
The old 7:50 ritual
- Launch OBS, start the virtual camera
- Key the webcam over the shared screen
- Start the Zoom meeting, re-pick the camera
- Drag the reading doc left, Zoom to its corner
- Find somewhere for the chat to fit
- Press Start. Teach.
